HOUSTON – June 2, 2026 – Brown-Forman Employees Credit Union knew just where to turn to find a new ATM management partner after putting up with “terrible customer service” for far too long. The new partner is Dolphin Debit, and the credit union couldn’t be happier.
BFECU, headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year as a sole sponsor credit union serving the employees of the Brown-Forman Corporation, one of the largest companies in the spirits and wine business. Its membership is primarily in the Louisville area, but it has members in 32 states, where the sponsor company has satellite offices.
The credit union maintains a pair of ATMs, one at its headquarters branch and the other at a nearby large distillery. As Erin Walter, Manager and President of the credit union, explains, “Having only one office location here on our main campus, it is very important for us to have ATMs available for our members to access cash when needed, saving them a trip.”
It’s even more important to have those ATMs operating as they should at all times. That was definitely not the case with its previous management company, Walter said. “Our former provider had terrible customer service. Our machines were outdated and frequently out of service. When we had issues that required service, they were not responsive at all.”
So BFECU looked to Dolphin Debit. “I was very familiar with Dolphin from multiple conference events. I knew exactly who to talk to when it came time to make a change,” Walter said. The credit union naturally checked out other potential providers, but chose Dolphin.
Now, said Walter, “We have seen a complete 180 in terms of customer service. Our machines look professional and up-to-date. The biggest difference is machine performance. We’ve seen little to no downtime, meaning our machines are always available for our members to use.” That has been a big member-pleaser, he emphasized.
Now with Dolphin Debit in place, the credit union is considering adding another ATM at one of the sponsor company’s locations near Lexington, Kentucky.
“Credit unions don’t have to put up with unacceptable levels of ATM downtime and poor customer service,” said Joe Woods, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Partnerships for Dolphin Debit. “There are better options to keep their members happy.”
