Michigan Credit Union Puts its ATM Management in Dolphin Debit’s Hands

HOUSTON – Dec. 2, 2025 – For Tri-Cities Credit Union, it was ATM sunsetting by the manufacturer that drove the western Michigan institution into the arms of Dolphin Debit.

That looming capital investment caused Tri-Cities, based in Grand Haven, on the shores of Lake Michigan, to begin reassessing its traditional management strategy and consider outsourcing its ATM management. At the same time, the credit union was less than thrilled with the many miscellaneous costs that come with ongoing ATM ownership.

“We didn’t want to face that big investment, but we did want a machine from the same vendor,” said Kim Hall, President and CEO of Tri-Cities Credit Union. “Dolphin Debit was able to take over the management but get us the ATM we wanted.”

Dolphin and Tri-Cities partnered in an ATM-as-a-Service approach that was tailored to just what Tri-Cities wanted and needed in its management program. For the credit union, the choice of a management partner was an easy one.

“We were looking for a provider that partnered with the Michigan Credit Union League,” said Hall. “We know the league does due diligence when it comes to its partners, and it was important to us that Dolphin Debit had been a strong league partner for five years.”

Hall added that Dolphin’s flexibility in terms of structuring a management program and its range of solution options was a real bonus.

“There is no one-approach-fits-all when it comes to credit unions,” said Joe Woods, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Partnerships for Dolphin Debit. “Every credit union is unique, and needs a customized management arrangement. That is our specialty.”
